Hoy he leído en los foros de Onyx Path una pregunta que nunca me había hecho y me parece muy interesante. ¿Cómo llamarían los Vampiros a la Sangre antes del desarrollo del latín?

Lógicamente, es de imaginar que utilizarían localismos de todo el mundo, pero lo cierto es que no conozco qué opciones podrían tener. El griego antiguo, por ejemplo, tenía una forma propia para el concepto "life blood" (he encontrado esto buscando en un diccionario inglés-griego antiguo) que sería "aima" frente a "bios" para el concepto más parecido a "vitae".

Yo usaría Psyche, que significa alma o aliento vital, literalmente creían que el aliento era lo que daba vida a un cuerpo. Por eso tenemos la psicología, el estudio del mal aliento. Estaría en consonancia con el animismo sanguinario de la época.

Los vampiros egipcios posiblemente utilizasen el término Ka; los acadios utilizaban dam-um; los celtas ful o fuil; los cartagineses dum.

Depende de hasta qué punto una sociedad de vampiros tuviese suficiente fuerza para extender su cultura sobre otra. Me inclino porque el griego aima estaría más extendido.

De hecho, Ka es el término que utilizan los Mekhet.

He estado leyendo ahora que en el hebreo bíblico, la palabra usada para sangre ("dam") presentaba casi una sinonimia con el significado para "vida", de ahí que la Torah prohíba el consumo de la sangre de los animales y obligue a desangrarlos por completo antes de consumir la carne.

Así que eso me lleva a la conclusión de que "dam" es una palabra con un significado muy cercano a "Vitae" para los Vampiros de tradición judía o que tuvieran quizá contacto con esa religión.
