Metaplot Proper — The Living Story
The metaplot’s the narrative that ties together separate plotlines and moves the setting forward in time. Any event that alters the world, drives the actions of major characters, or simply changes the status quo supplements further along the line take for granted counts as metaplot. Metaplot reflects the actions and agency of characters and circumstances other than that of the player characters or the Storyteller’s chronicle at their table, live-action parlor, or online call. The tales in The Apocalyptic Record hint at many different occurrences happening in the Garou’s world. Which among these prove to be true and how they’ll play out determines the future of Gaia and her children. Another fallen tribe may prove to be the Garou’s demise, but the shape of that tragedy changes according to which Garou surrender themselves to the Wyrm (or the Weaver).
Werewolf’s metaplot covered four broad aspects, signified by flashpoint events:
• The Last Gaian Kings and Queens: With the help of his pack, Jonas Albrecht retrieves the Silver Crown, exposes Arkady, and travel to Russia to learn about his heritage after being crowned, earning both the ire and respect of Tamara Tvarivich. Margrave Konietzko becomes a candidate for supreme leadership on the Garou Nation after hundreds of Garou from multiple countries flock under his banner.
• The heads of the Hydra: As Pentex’s subsidiaries expand their influence, members of the Board of Directors rise to prominence and others die — if they’re lucky. The Black Spiral Dancers rush out their Hives and lay ancestral caerns to siege. New Banes and Fomori appear, corrupt reflections of an evolving world. Stranger beings lurk out of the shadow to join the final battle.
• Fronts of the War: Golgol Fangs-First leads a united Fera front in the Amazon. Russian Garou defeat Baba Yaga. Kisasi forms the Ahadi to end Black Tooth’s tyranny. The Stargazers leave the Garou Nation to join the Beast Courts.
• Omens and Portents: The Prophecy of the Phoenix’s predictions become reality. Signs of the return of the lost tribes grow more frequent. Medusa disappears and the Metamorphic Plague strikes the Black Furies. Young Silent Striders manage to channel their ancestors for the first time since Sutekh cursed their tribe.
